Vegetarian Fitness Nutrition: Beyond Just Protein

Vegetarian Fitness Nutrition: Beyond Just Protein

You start working out, and suddenly every nutrition conversation becomes about protein.
Protein matters. But it isn't the entire fitness diet.

Your muscles aren't the only thing doing the work

Training also means your body needs enough overall food and a range of nutrients to support normal body functions.

A balanced eating pattern includes vegetables and fruit, whole grains or other quality carbohydrate sources, healthy fats and protein foods.

The nutrients worth remembering

For people who eat little or no animal food, some nutrients deserve particular attention.

Vitamin B12 is one. It occurs naturally in animal foods, while plant foods don't naturally provide B12 unless they are fortified.

Calcium and vitamin D also matter for bone health, while iron and other nutrients need to be considered as part of the overall diet.

The fitness plate is bigger than the protein number

A good vegetarian fitness diet isn't just “more protein.”

It's enough food, enough variety and attention to the nutrients your particular eating pattern may make harder to obtain.

Our mission: HealthySoya is here to make one part of that picture easier: bringing protein-rich food into everyday vegetarian eating.

Train hard. Feed the whole body.
